An original song inspired by my journey through metastatic breast cancer. “Leaving the Waiting Room” is about choosing to live in the present instead of waiting for certainty. It’s a story of fear, hope, motherhood, and discovering that the party never waited for perfect anyway.
Before it became a song, “Leaving the Waiting Room” was an essay about waiting – for the next scan, the next milestone, the moment when life finally felt stable enough to begin looking forward.

Some songs find you when you least expect them. “Leaving the Waiting Room” began as an essay, but one night I couldn’t sleep until I heard it.
I wanted the song to capture the tension so many of us know. The space between fear and hope, between waiting and living. It’s a reminder (one I need often) that the party doesn’t wait for perfect. Life is happening now, and we get to be a part of it, even in uncertainty.
This song is for anyone who’s ever felt stuck in the waiting room. For a can, a result, a next step, or a “someday” that keeps moving further out. You are not alone. And you don’t need to put your life on hold.
My hope is that “Leaving the Waiting Room” encourages you to find small ways to step into today, to notice the good that’s here right now, and to remember that your story is still unfolding.
